11th February 2020
Tonight, we started off the evening with birthday celebrations....and lots of cake!!!
As it was Jess' birthday today, we decided to celebrate in the only way we know how....lots of cake!!! With Victoria Sponge and a double chocolate cake up for grabs, we knew we were going to be in for a good evening!!!!
Today is also the International day of women & girls in science. if It wasn't for the wealth of opportunities that Greenpower & CAUC have opened up for us, we wouldn't have had half as many students be inspired to consider a STEM related career. Thanks to everyone, past & present, who has supported CAUC to help break through these stereotypes and shown us the clear benefit of a career in this field!
Following our team discussions last week, Rachel (...with the support of Richard!) hopped back onto OpenFoam to carry out a little more testing. Tonight, she was looking at the air turbulence flowing around one of our new designs.
Similar to previous weeks, a number of other team members...with the help from Jane and Dave, carried on with the task of removing the lacquer from Basil. Hopefully it won't be long until he gets his new coat.
Some other team members spent the night writing letters and filling in application forms for community funding projects at a number of our local supermarkets. Fingers crossed we'll be successful.
In addition, sponsorship letters were also being composed ready to send to local company's and businesses' to see whether they would be able to give us a helping hand.
Bethan has been doing a fabulous job with our battery boxes recently - and this evening is no exception! After getting it safety checked by Richard, tonight Bethan prepped the equipment ready for tomorrow where she will begin a 24 hour test on them.
Tonight, the raspberry pi was brought back out in an attempt to see if it can be connected to 3G. Unfortunately, we had a few technical difficulties so will have to have another go next week sometime.
The last, but by no means least, job of the night was to compose a very special letter to say a big thank you to Hauck UK Ltd for their very generous sponsorship payment. We wouldn't be able to continue racing without the kind donations from companies such as Hauck. Their contribution will help us a lot in the future....especially when we come to build the next generation of the CAUC fleet.
Finally to Mr G (who we know will be reading this), everyone at CAUC wishes you a speedy recovery from your Brain surgery. You were certainly missed in the tech suite tonight. Hope you are taking it easy.....we would like you back fighting fit sooner rather than later!!
