Virtual Car Team Week 6 - 'Best Virtual Background' competition, Solid Edge and Week 2 of CAUC's lock-down quiz....what better way to spend our Tuesday Evening?!!
As mentioned in our last blog post, for this week, we challenged the team to find the 'best / most inventive / most fun' background....and well, the team did not disappoint !!
We had quite the variety of images and locations, as you can see from the picture below. From F1 cockpits to snaps of the starting grid at Goodwood last year. Exotic beaches to the three sisters race circuit. The set from Finding Nemo and a snap of a 5 SOS concert!
However - our personal favourites were Elf with the rubber ducks, Cerys swimming with pigs, and last but by no means least - Lucy with her special guest, Shrek!! After our mini virtual background competition - it was time to get stuck in with the new car designs on Solid Edge.....which some would definitely argue as far more important than silly backgrounds!! :P
Having spent the majority of last week discussing the Open Foam simulation results, tonight we focused our discussion around subtle ways we can modify the design to improve these results - coming up with a number of possible alterations.
Some great points were made by Lucy, as she proceeded to explain an idea that she had. Needless to say, her design was added to our list of potential ideas that need to be drawn and then tested!!
If there is such a thing...one of the ''silver linings'' to lock-down and the current situation is the added benefit of time to truly explore and enjoy the whole design process.....as cheesy as that may sound!!!!!!!
During the chat, we also talked over the extremely crucial decision of where to place our wing mirrors - consulting with the 2020 regulations to make sure our suggestions are fully compliant with the rules! Definitely don't want to be doing anything that would get us into trouble with Stewart!!!
With discussions over and to-do list updated, it was time to participate in Week 2 of CAUC's Lock-down Quiz Night....brilliantly delivered by last week's winner Em.
The quiz consisted of 5 rounds; General Knowledge, TV & Film, Sport, Greenpower and Music. As quizzes go, this one was particularly hard...and made us realise that we should maybe postpone any ideas to apply for 'The Chase' or 'Pointless'!
I think each one of us at some point panicked that this would be the week that we made our debut on the 'loser board!'
Quizzes marked - results are in....and in Week 2, our 'Quiz Champion' was Lili-Ann! Woohoo - congratulations to Lil!
Jodie on the other hand was 'Quiz Loser'...much to Alice's relief!!!
After Week 2 - here's what the CAUC Lock-down Quiz Night leader boards are looking like.
We finished our meeting with entertainment from Lucy...as she talked us through the history of leaders, starting with Lord Farquaad and finishing with Donald Trump!!!!!!
With progress made on the new car & a highly competitive quiz....that's one productive evening if you ask us!!
