Virtual Car Team Week 8: A Greenpower Quiz Night and first look at some potential livery designs!

This week, we switched up our weekly zoom meeting to participate in the Greenpower Quiz Night hosted by Gav and Ben!

We decided we'd compete in the quiz as a team - after all, surely 18 plus minds are better than one??!! Our plan was simple, we'd log onto zoom, Becksy would share her screen with the live stream running and Jane would become our team representative submitting the answers on Kahoot!

Fool proof....right??!!

Greenpower Quiz 350

We started off well - feeling pretty chuffed to be sat in 2nd place after the first two questions.

Our strategy seemed to be working.....

However, this quiet optimism was soon lost!!!! As the questions went on, we saw ourselves slip further and further down the scoreboard. Poor Jane had 45 minutes of the team shouting out the answers...invariably all disagreeing and invariably all having debates between two answers (...of which, 60% of the time, both answers we were debating between ended up being wrong!!)

One slight flaw to what we assumed would be a seamless plan was the video lagging for some of the team. Prime example of this was towards the end of the quiz and one of the 'which track is this' questions. We'd submitted our response and had gone quiet waiting for the answer to be revealed. After what seemed like an age, suddenly Mr G piped up 'It's Bedford, Bedford is the answer' to which Luke replied ''too late now, you need to speak up quicker, we've already answered!'. Needless to say we got this question wrong....and the answer was in fact - Bedford!!!!!

With the most common phrase being "nope, we got that wrong", it really is no surprise that we ended up finishing in 18th.....(also proving that our original plan was certainly not fool proof!!!) Whilst our Greenpower knowledge leaves a lot to be desired, we definitely had fun shouting, rather convincingly, the wrong answers at Jane for 45 minutes! :'D

Big thanks to Gav, Ben and co for their efforts in putting the quiz together for us all...it certainly kept CAUC entertained!!

When all the excitement of the quiz was finished, we turned our attention back to working on the next generation of the CAUC fleet. This week, Richard was able to show us a 1:10 scale model that he'd made of our latest design.

It was pretty exciting getting to see our design come to life...albeit rather small! Having also kept the 1:10 foam model of Dylan, it was great to see and compare the two side by side. I think we maybe getting close to working out how we are going to build the car - ready to be able to hit the ground running as soon as we are allowed to do so.

Cate, our budding designer, has also been working extremely hard over the last couple of weeks to come up with a number of potential designs for the livery and logos. Therefore, for the reminder of the evening, Cate took us through her thought process before showing us her current designs. If we do say so ourselves, Cate has done an incredible job - and I for one am certainly looking forward to seeing the finished product.

So once again, we've had another productive, but more importantly, fun Tuesday evening. Wonder what we'll get up to next week...
