Virtual Car Team Week 9: Measuring limbs, dogs squishing elastic band cars and a Motorsport inspired quiz night is the perfect summary of another rather entertaining Tuesday evening for CAUC!

We kick started the call this week with a rather strange request from Richard - ''Have you all got access to a ruler please?'' A little bit bemused, we scurried off to grab ourselves Richard's tool of choice - half wondering whether we had started the quiz night early with a scavenger hunt!!!!

Rulers found, we headed onto Solid Edge to carry on with designing the new car - focusing our attention on the cockpit by debating current measurements and driver positions.

You may remember from our January blog posts that at the beginning of the year we made ourselves a model of the cockpit to determine the optimum size for our drivers. At the time, we had been a little ambitious and a number of our taller drivers were either getting stuck or their shoulders wouldn't fit!!

Despite modifying the design since then, tonight, we wondered whether our cockpit size was still a little too small. Therefore, we decided to carry out a 'scientific experiment' to work out the average size of our drivers legs......hence the rulers!!

We started off by measuring our knees before moving on to determine the average length of a CAUC team member's femur!!

Satisfied on leg length, next up was shoe size. Brilliantly demonstrated by Jane (see photo below), we got to work measuring the soles of our feet.

The conclusion - we may just fit, hooray!

....Although it would probably be best if we made another life size model - just to triple check the results from our highly accurate science experiment!!!!

After our first look at livery designs last week and excited to see the latest version, we put Cate on the spot somewhat by asking whether we could see more. Happy to oblige, Cate presented what she's got so far by showing us a number of different logo options.

Next up, we re-visited the Greenpower Elastic Band Powered Car competition; sharing how we'd got on....which rather comically wasn't too well. For Cate, her band snapped as heading out to test, and poor Immy's attempt was sabotaged by her dog who after chasing the car, stepped on it and subsequently snaped it!!

....and here he is. Meet Marlow, the prime suspect in Immy's broken car saga! Looking rather cute, and rather proud of his handy work!!!!!!

With a number of the team raiding their recycling bins and gathering supplies - hopefully we'll be able to attempt round 2 in the next couple of weeks!!!

For the remainder of the evening, it was back over to Cate to host her brilliant 'CAUC Lockdown Quiz Night - Week 4!'

This week - Cate focused her rounds predominately on Motorsport, with rounds on 'Guess the Racing Team', 'Guess the Car logo', 'Guess the Greenpower Track' and finally, a rather wacky 'pop quiz'.

Erin quickly became our favourite team member in the 'Guess the car logo' round, when forgetting that she wasn't on mute, kept shouting out the answers for us all to hear. Fortunately for us, Erin is pretty solid on her car logo knowledge so unwittingly helped us all out immensely!!!

Results in....it was a close one this week. Pipping everyone to the post, in first place, was Richard & Jane, closely followed by Cerys & Mr G!.

After week 4 - our leader boards are as follows:

Once again - it's been another productive evening!

Enjoy the bank holiday - and we'll see you next week for the latest update on CAUC's Zoom antics!
