Virtual Car Team Week 14: Foam Cars and an F1 themed quiz night marks another entertaining evening on Zoom!
As is customary to these calls, we started the evening off with a little catch up - filling each other in on what we've been getting up to over the last week. With a change to the government advice, Cerys and Phebs were ecstatic to be able to finally visit each other. They were joined by special guest 'Karoot, the carrot' who was sat in the middle to ensure they stayed 1 metre + away from each other!!!
Richard and Jane also had the right idea - joining the call with a cup of tea and chocolate digestives!! I've definitely made a mental note to bring my own snacks next week!!!
During our chin wag, we were treated to another instalment of {inset a catchy theme tune here} #CAUCPetsOnZoom.
First up was Barney who's becoming quite a regular to these calls, before Lil took us outside to see her three ducklings.
Having fully caught up with one another, we headed onto Solid Edge to continue designing the new car.
This week, we were working out how much foam would be needed to make the buck. Using solid edge and the multi body moulding tool, we have been able to section off the car which subsequently has enabled us to determine the size of the individual pieces of foam that need to be cut out on the router before being stuck together to form the buck.
After successfully managing to convert the car into a "foam model", that is sectioned off in multiple foam blocks, we can start thinking about making the mould!! All we've got to do now is grab the foam from school ready to borrow Richard's router and start cutting!!! So, fingers crossed it won't be too much longer until we can finally start the mould making process......which hopefully will mean our virtual zoom calls will soon be having a feature from within Richard and Jane's garage!!!!!!!!!
Watch this space.......
Satisfied with this week's progress - it was time for a F1 themed quiz night....hosted by F1 superfan, Mr G.
Proudly stating at the beginning of the quiz that "it won't take you long to count your scores", we were feeling rather worried on what Mr G had in store for us!! With rounds on Guess the F1 Team, Guess the Track, Manufacture F1 trivia and finally an ingenious take on Bruce Forsyth 'play your cards right' with a round of 'play your F1 driver right', he certainly succeeded in making us think!!
The F1 fans amongst the team were in their element. Everyone else on the other hand were thinking 'oh jeeze, this maybe my week to top the loser board'!!!!!
Scores on the doors, Luke was crowned Week 10 champion with a score of 59, beating Elf by only one point!!!!!
With Cate bringing it home in 3rd - she's managed to secure her place in top spot on our cumulative weekly leader board!
Exciting progress made on the new car and an entertaining quiz night...what more could we ask for?!
See you next week for more antics on Zoom!
