Virtual Car Team Week 16: The return of the Greenpower Quiz and the beginning of our new car....

In preparation for part 3 of the Greenpower Quiz, we kick started the meeting by attempting to come up with a quiz name as we felt CAUC wasn't that imaginative!! With a number of ideas thrown around and a quick google search from Cerys, we tested out the Zoom Poll feature to decide our favourite.

Votes in - our winner was 'No Shorts in the Pit Lane'. Unfortunately however, this was too many characters for Kahoot! and therefore had to settle for 'Shorts in Pit' (....So Gav, if you happen to be reading this, you can rest assured that we weren't trying to buck any track rules!!!!)

Whilst waiting for the quiz to start, Richard and Jane proudly modelled their face masks that Jane had been busy making in preparation for Friday when they are required to be worn in shops!

Also joining us on the call was the very adorable, and rather cuddly Darcy - who clearly didn't want to miss out on all the fun!!

With Richard declaring that he'd "got his snacks ready" (...The Kenney snack of choice this week was custard creams for anyone interested!! :P ) it was time to get ready for the eagerly anticipated Greenpower Quiz. As usual Becksy shared her screen and Jane joined the Kahoot! as team representative for No Shorts in the Pit Line otherwise known as 'shorts in pit!'

Feeling like a well oiled machine, we had high hopes for the quiz. Could we improve upon our 2nd place win from last time? Only time would tell....

By Question 3 we were sat in 3rd place. So not too bad a start!

We were extremely chuffed to be the answer to 'which team has the most combined podium wins for F24 and F24+?'

One question that did cause a little disagreement was this guess the track. Well, I say disagreement - that was until Jane told us to "Listen to Mr G, he knows his tracks".

....So listen to Mr G we did - and guess what? He really does know his tracks and got the question right! Phew - thanks Mr G!

Quiz over, scores were in and 'shorts in pit' managed to finish in.......

*Drum Roll Please*

3rd Place wohooo.

Not quite the podium position we'd hoped for but hey, at least we remained consistent throughout the whole quiz! ;D Our thanks again to both Gav and Ben for their efforts - as usual we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

Quiz over, we turned our attention back to designing the new car.....with a twist.

Rather excitingly, Richard and Jane took us outside to start *Virtually* building the NEW CAR!!!!!!

Placed on their Wheelie Bin (to which Becksy, thinking she's the next comical genius, stated how it's "wheelie bin exciting". Unfortunately the only one laughing was Becksy as the rest of the team rolled their eyes!!!)Richard was able to show us the first pieces of foam that have been cut out on the router ready to make the buck.

First up we were shown the before's and afters. Number 1 was the foam before being cut in half to get number 2. Number 2 was then placed on the router to cut out the pieces needed for the buck (number 3!)

Reminiscent of the Blue Peter catch phrase 'here's one I made earlier', Richard showed us a finished foam block straight from the router, explaining how each piece was taking approximately 45 minutes to be cut.

Of course, this wouldn't be a Richard presentation without his trusty glamorous assistant, showing us the relevant piece as Richard talked through each stage of the process.

....As Jane is aptly demonstrating, we wondered whether this should be our new cockpit opening. After all, it would be pretty lightweight and extremely easy for the drivers to get in and out!!

Despite cutting pieces as big as physically possible, we worked out that there's another 24 pieces left to be cut....so we've still got quite a long way to go until the foam resembles something like a car!

But it's official. We can finally say we've started the build process on the new car and we couldn't be anymore excited.

With the Greenpower Quiz and Virtual Car Building what more could we want?!

The real question is - how are we going to top it next week?!!
