Virtual Car Team Week 19: A finished foam buck and a 'Complete and Utter Chaos' Quiz Night.
Being the middle of the school holidays, this week was much more of a quieter affair as a large number of the team were either away on holiday, playing cricket or out for the day. However, that didn't stop those still in Sandbach touching base with one another - catching up and seemingly commenting, every 5 minutes, just how warm it was. We definitely should have started a tally to see how many times someone mentioned the weather!!!
Knowing that everyone who was able to join had now joined the call, Richard and Jane took us back into their garage to see the progress made on our buck. Having cut out all the pieces needed, we watched Richard as he tried to put it together by remembering which piece went where!
Challenge complete - we had one completed foam car sat in front of us. I feel like we've said it a lot over the last few weeks, but once again, it was so exciting seeing a life size model of the car on the driveway. Albeit only made from foam, it means we are one step closer to having the latest addition of the CAUC fleet ready to race!
As our expert camera crew Richard & Jane took us round the car to inspect from all angles - it triggered conversations around the similarities and differences between this one and our previous cars. Comparing aspects such as the height and cockpit sizes. With Dylan and Basil currently on vacation at Casa Richard & Jane - luckily, we were able to get Basil out to compare side by side with our foam model. (...and when I say 'we were able to', what I really mean is Rich and Jane got Basil out whilst we all sat and watched!!!!!).
Not being able to see the foam in person quite yet, this was extremely useful in adding a bit of perspective to the model in regards to it's size.
Next up, we've got to make the metal and wooden framework so the buck can be attached to a spit and re-cut one of the foam pieces as the ends have bent upwards slightly resembling a banana rather than something flat / straight.
With the excitement of a finished buck over for the evening, we got ready to participate in Week 14 of CAUC Lockdown Quiz Night!
Our host this week was Jodie, who amazingly created a quiz where each round was themed around our name; Complete And Utter Chaos.
So, in Round 1 we had to COMPLETE a crossword - with a 5 minute timer and both Greenpower & F1 related questions - the pressure was on!.
Next, we had to guess the famous AND's...things that commonly go together like Salt & Pepper or as was the answer to this question - Ying and Yang (or according to Mr G's print, it should be Jim and Jan!!!)
For Round 3, we had to name the movie character who UTTER'ed these words. This round was made all the more entertaining by Richard's fantastic character impersonations...which definitely helped us get some of the answers!
Finally, for the last round, we had to name where the CHAOS from the pictures could be found.
This is certainly one of the more cleverly thought out quizzes that we've done in our little series - kudos to Jodie for putting it together.
Results counted and shared - once again it was Luke who was crowned quiz winner. He now sits only one point behind Cate in 2nd place.
The question is, will he be able to win again next week to make it a ha-trick?!
You'll have to wait and see.....
